Review summary

We almost turned back on this cruise and cancelled. There are several terrible reviews about the Meraviligia. But we are so glad that we threw caution to the wind and stayed the course. Cruising with MSC was very different than Carnival or Royal Caribbean but different does not mean terrible. It was a new experience which we truly enjoyed.

Embarkation

Embarkation was so easy however we were some of the first people there due to a super early flight. We walked right through with ease. We weren’t Yacht Club cruisers so we were routed to a huge waiting area that had plenty of seats and complimentary water and juice while you waited. We started embarkation around 1245 or so and were called in assigned groups. We were on board eating by 115.

Food and Dining

So the previous reviews about food being inedible almost made us cancel this cruise. But I am so glad we didn’t cancel because not only was it inedible, it was great! From fresh daily made mozzarella to fresh paninis, it was wonderful. We only ate in the main dining room once. It was good but nothing to write home about. Oh and the pizza definitely is worthy of stopping for!

Onboard Activities

The pools are beautiful. There are plenty pools and hot tubs scattered about. It was never hard to find a chair and lots of activities out around the Atmosphere pool. We didn’t do any shows because we were to busy enjoying pools, food and the parties. We did enjoy Marlon and the evening trivia in the Brass Anchor Pub

Entertainment

We did not do any of the shows but were very entertained by the parties held at night. Be prepared for a White party, Black light Party, a Retro (60’s, 70’s and 80’s) party and the grandest one of all was the carnival party with a parade of performers.

Service and Staff

Our room steward must work around the clock. He was always handy and eager to please. Our room was always very attended to.

Ship Quality

This ship is absolutely gorgeous. There’s the galleria, the crystal staircases, the grand pianos, the al fresco tables-it’s all breathtaking.

Cabin / Stateroom

Our cabin was spacious, plenty roomy enough for two people.
